3 Impressive Benefits of Exotic Jackfruit

Jackfruit is a tropical fruit commonly found in South America, India, Africa, and Asia. It grows on a tree. It is an evergreen tree that can grow up to 30 meters tall. The jackfruit tree is known for its large size and impressive appearance, with a broad canopy of leaves and large, oblong fruit that can weigh up to 100 pounds. The tree is drought-resistant and can grow in tropical climates, making it an important food source in many parts of the world. Jackfruit is a superfood based on its incredible vitamin and mineral profile consisting of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin B6, riboflavin, magnesium, manganese, copper, calcium, and potassium as well as fiber, protein, and phytochemicals to name a few!

Like many other fruits a powerful antioxidant. Some people say it tastes like something between a pineapple and mango, however, this is up for debate based on your taste buds. When cooked, it tastes much different. There are recipes for vegan tacos and other meaty foods that employ jackfruit since it has the right texture as a meat alternative.

Artocarpus Heterophyllus fruit extract (aka jackfruit extract) has been used in traditional medicine quite frequently due to its antimicrobial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and anticarcinogenic qualities. The ‘meat’ of the fruit is usually eaten, but it can also be used topically. Jackfruit extract is very high in vitamins C and A, two popular nutrients used for skin care. I have created a face cream that I call a “sleep mask” that you can put on at night and give yourself some beauty sleep! I’ll share more about this down below.

Jackfruit is one of the largest tree-borne fruits in the world and can weigh anywhere from 10 to 100 pounds, with an average weight of around 20 to 30 pounds. Some jackfruits can be as small as a few pounds, while others can be as large as 80 to 100 pounds. The size can vary greatly depending on its variety, growing conditions, and location. Compare that with the size of a cantaloupe which averages about 3 pounds, or a mango which is about 12 ounces! These are pretty large fruits!

1. How Jackfruit Works to Heal Your Skin

It’s amazing to think you can transform your skin while you sleep but I believe you can. Jackfruit contains vitamin C and antioxidants which are great for the skin and have been seen to slow the aging of your skin as well as fight to neutralize free radicals that are responsible for aging. Vitamin C is vital for collagen production, which you already know helps firm the skin and keep it looking youthful.

Not only that, but vitamins A and C also help to repair wounds and aid in skin damage from sun damage and UVA/UVB rays. This means that inflammation in the skin is reduced, and wrinkles are less likely to form. All of this and more simply means that skincare products that contain jackfruit extract will improve skin tone and reduce wrinkle formation due to the antioxidant power. If you’d like to watch a VIDEO of me explaining more about the skin benefits of jackfruit, and my newest “sleep mask” please CLICK HERE. You put it on at bedtime like a night cream and wake up to softer, more firm/elastic skin!

The compounds found in my new face cream “Sleeping with Jack” (see below) can help hydrate and revitalize dry, dull skin, leaving it looking and feeling refreshed. It just helps restore the skin’s natural radiance, but it does so while you sleep!

2. How Jackfruit Helps with Scalp Infections and Dandruff

Jackfruit is sold in the produce department of many stores depending on where you live. It’s not really common in the USA though, unless you go to a special market that imports it. People have used jackfruit to improve scalp health. When the fruit is applied directly to the scalp and allowed to soak in for a bit, you’ll find that your skin up there has a healthier feel. Since one of the methods for saturating one’s scalp can be done by soaking Jackfruit seeds overnight to obtain their vitamins and minerals and then applying said paste to your head along your hair’s roots and letting it soak in for about a half-hour. This can be a rather sticky situation, so I recommend applications before your shower.

As for the proteins found in the jackfruit itself, they’re great for your skin, nails, and hair because of the protein profile, which may I add is remarkable, especially in comparison to other fruits like mango or banana. Jackfruit has a whopping 3 grams of protein, much higher than other fruits! But it’s also incredibly beneficial when ingested!

As for dandruff, there is limited scientific evidence to support the idea that jackfruit can stop dandruff. However, some people believe that eating jackfruit or using topical potions that contain extracts can improve the health of the scalp and reduce the symptoms of dandruff. This may work because it is a reliable source of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients that can promote scalp health.

That being said, I’d recommend the products sold at health food stores and pharmacies as your most effective way to treat dandruff! There are a variety of over-the-counter (and natural) dandruff-relief products in the form of shampoos and conditioners. They contain antifungal and anti-inflammatory ingredients which address the root cause much better than putting jackfruit on your head! If you are concerned about serious cases of dandruff, it is best to talk to a dermatologist or a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

3. Benefits of Eating Jackfruit

For one it’s good and it’s sustainable. Some people say it tastes like something between pineapple and mango. When cooked as a meat alternative, it takes on the flavor of the spices you use. I found a picture of someone’s curry that they made using prawns and jackfruit.

Jackfruit itself, and jackfruit extract contains many phytochemicals and antioxidants that support and boost immune system health and functioning. It also increases white blood cell production (which protects against viruses and foreign bacteria).

The simple sugars contained in Jackfruit are absorbed by our bodies and converted to energy. The calcium and magnesium in Jackfruit are great for bone health and muscle cramps. So eating Jackfruit may help with aches and pains. For those with osteoporosis or osteopenia, you may be interested to know that jackfruit has all the right minerals (including zinc, manganese, copper, and phosphorus) to promote bone health and healing. In case this wasn’t impressive enough, the potassium found in this exotic fruit reduces hypertension and helps to regulate blood pressure.
