Ingredients
Loaf of soft French bread
Pack of swiss cheese
Package of deli meat – roasted turkey or smoked turkey
1/2 stick butter
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
Salt and Pepper to taste
Optional: Banana peppers or jalapeno slices
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Slice into the French bread every 1/2 inch (go almost to the bottom, don’t cut all the way through). Set the loaf aside. Melt the butter and whisk it with the mustard, a dash of salt and some pepper. Brush or spoon a little of this mixture into every slice you made on the french bread to wet it. Then roll together one slice of swiss cheese with one slice of turkey meat and stuff that down into every slice of bread. If you have any butter/dijon mustard mix left, baste the top of the whole loaf. Carefully place the whole loaf onto a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes until all the cheese has melted and the top is lightly toasted. Serve warm while it’s still gooey. I gave some of this to my neighbor (we share food all the time on my street!) and anyway she texted me back with “Thank you this is a little bit of heaven!”
