Ingredients
4 oz cocoa powder
2 cups whole milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 – 4 tablespoons evaporated cane sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
Marshmallows
Optional toppings: Whipped cream, ground cinnamon, chopped hazelnuts, peppermint sticks
Instructions
In a saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the milk, cocoa powder, salt, sugar and mix until the mixture is completely dissolved with a consistent texture. Add the cinnamon sticks, vanilla extract and whisk occasionally, until the milk has thickened, about 5 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks. Pour the hot cocoa into two cups, add the marshmallows, whipped cream, sprinkle some hazelnuts on top and a little bit of cinnamon.
